Patrick’s POTD

Take a few minutes of your quarantine—sit down with the Maker of the Universe—your Heavenly Father and Best Friend—and chat. You never know what might come of it.

Here is St. Patrick’s ‘Prayer of the Day’. Albeit a few weeks late, God is always listening.

Let’s pray…

I arise today 
Through the strength of Heaven 
Light of sun 
Radiance of moon 
Splendor of fire 
Speed of lightning 
Swiftness of wind 
Depth of the sea 
Stability of earth 
Firmness of rock 

I arise today 
Through Gods strength to pilot me
Gods eye to look before me 
Gods wisdom to guide me 
Gods way to lie before me 
Gods shield to protect me 
From all who shall wish me ill 
Afar and anear 
Alone and in a multitude 
Against every cruel 
Merciless power 
That may oppose my body and soul 

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ in me, 
Christ beneath me, Christ above me, 
Christ on my right, Christ on my left, 
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, 
Christ when I arise, Christ to shield me 
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, 
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me 
I arise today.

So be it.

    Thank you, Jay, for this beautiful prayer of the day. Thank you for making every effort to encourage us as we face an unprecedented time of trial in our country. We’ve gone down the Corona virus rabbit hole and it’s not looking good. If it weren’t for my trust in Jesus Christ, I’d be very depressed about now. Sitting here, looking outside at blue sky and sunshine, well, it seems so normal. You’d not think the world is in crisis if it weren’t for the news feeds.

    Joni Erickson-Tada, whom I greatly admire, said this pandemic is so big that God must be up to something even bigger. Well, He certainly has the attention of a lot of people now who didn’t have the time of day for Him just two months ago. The enemy meant this pandemic for evil, but God will use it for our good. I believe that good is the salvation of many lost people.

    I’m one of thousands of people who have seen your Biblical Dinner and Galilean Wedding presentations. My old Bible is absolutely stuffed with notes from you and others – commentaries, poems, quotes, the lyrics of favorite worship songs. I celebrated my 75th birthday last year and my Ryrie Study Bible has been with me for more than forty of those years. After seeing your presentations, many videos from Israel and learning about the Jewish roots of our faith, I thought – Wow, the only thing not Jewish about my faith is me!

    So thank you again for ministering to us, for continuing to feed us with the Word and now through the POTD. I’d like to share an early Hasidic prayer with you from my Bible ~

    Wherever I go – only Thou!

    Wherever I stand – only Thou!

    When things are good – Thou!

    When things are bad – Thou! Thou! Thou! Thou!
